It was a strong showing for Asian-American creators this year: Gene Luen Yang won three awards, the most out of anyone this year, earning Best Publication for Kids, and Best Adaptation from Another Medium for writing Gurihiru’s “Superman Smashes the Klan,” and Best Publication for Teens with “Dragon Hoops.” Stan Sakai won Best Continuing Series and Best Lettering for “Usagi Yojimbo,” while Adrian Tomine won Best Graphic Memoir and Best Publication Design for “The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Cartoonist.” Junji Ito and Simon Hanselmann also won two awards each, while Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber’s “Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen” won Best Limited Series, and Best Humor Publication. The winners of the 33rd annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards were announced during a livestream last night:
